Farnworth Grammar SchoolMr. E.F. "Trigger" RigbyA Special Appeal |

One of the last of Farnworth Grammar's remarkable complement of long-serving teachers, Mr. Evelyn F. Rigby, was cremated today, May 20th, 2010.
"Trigger" Rigby, as he was known to all, spent a large part of his long life at FGS. Starting as a shiny new third-former in the late 1930s, he left the school only to serve in the RAF during World War 2 and to get his degree. He then returned immediately to FGS — and, I believe, was still on the staff when the school's doors closed for ever some 34 years later. It has been suggested that some of the many people whom Trigger taught might wish to express their sympathy or write briefly about their memories of the man. The objective is to compile a sort of "eBook of Condolences" which Derek Heywood has kindly agreed to present to Trigger's widow Lilian (who, as Lilian Worthington, also taught at FGS). All this is dependent on there being a reasonable response to this appeal (a literary response, not a financial one, I hasten to add — I'm not after your money...). It's simply a request to Trigger's former pupils to write something, even if it's only your name, the years you were at FGS and a short message, and email it to me at fgs So...to all who knew Trigger Rigby:
