- Joined ICI as a laboratory technician — later to become an experimental officer.
- Left ICI to take up 'full-time domestic duties' but hated not going out to work, and 12 months later joined the Civil Service (DSS).
- Resented interviewing layabouts (at that time there was plenty of work available) so I resigned.
- Joined British Gas in the accounts department and stayed there until early retirement in 1989.
- Married to Norman (no children) and have had several relocations due to Norman working for National Westminster Bank.
