This excerpt from the Editorial of the 1952 Easter Term Lumen marks the point at which the reins of power passed from Mr. A. Wilson to Mr. B.F. Rice.

Viewed in the light of subsequent events, the prediction in Mr. Rice's final paragraph turned out to be a masterpiece of understatement. His opening flourish, however, was marred somewhat by the typesetter's unfortunate rendering of the school motto, which doubtless caused some amusement in the A and alpha forms:
