This photograph was originally listed in the Gallery contents list as "Unknown form/group." The mystery was eventually solved by Norman Lomas, who appears in the photograph.

"The small number of people [on this photo] is strange. That can't be a complete form. [...] I'm inclined to agree with the date."

"I can certainly confirm that the unknown group photo in your 1951 section is the UVBeta class of 1950/51 with Mr (Butch) Ormesher as Form Master, I know this because I was there. You will notice that both John W. Rutter and myself were in the 1950/51 and the 1951/52 photos.The reason for this is that 1950/51 was the first year of the new G.C.E. exam and in its first year you had to be 16 years old to enter for “O” levels. Some people had passed the 11 plus at 10 years old so had to do two years in the UVth and we were two of those; there are possibly others in UVa, UVb and UValpha in year 1952 who did two years in the Upper Fifth form."
