Girls' Uniform Prices ca 1936

Contributed by Ron Hodson

For those to whom pre-decimal currency is a closed book, the 's' and 'd' columns were 'shillings' and 'pence' respectively. There were twenty shillings in a pound and therefore one shilling = 5p. Hence in 1936 your mum could buy you a new blazer for 80p and a silk tie for 10p.
